Fab Cafe called AXIL in Suburb of Hawthorn

This morning I was in the suburb of Kew for 8.40 am, dropping off my daughter for a couple of hours, for her entrance test for the new school, she is changing to, in the new academic year of 2015.  The school year in Australia runs as a calendar year February to December. (England was September to July- this complete opposite time of year for seasons too, has taken a bit of mental adjustment for me and I still sometimes wonder where I am with it all! LOL)

I had around two hours to fill. So I got the Age's "Good Cafe guide 2014" (mentioned in my last post.) Great Excuse to experience another recommended venue and a reason to venture into a nearby Suburb. I chose to visit the suburb of Hawthorn and AXIL Cafe, 322 Burwood road, Hawthorn.

Croquettes with ham hock, pea puree, poached eggs & hollandaise

I was not disappointed. AXIL roast their own blends of coffee which feature in many of the other cafes in Melbourne. I also partook in experiencing a delicious breakfast....well it would be shame not too, wouldn't it :-)
The venue turned out to be very suitable for group sized coffee lovers or ladies who lunch too!
It was also very comfortable for me to get out my MacBook Air and catch up with my writing and a few emails, for internet access I tethered to my phone. I so enjoy the Melbourne Cafe culture. A great environment to work in too :-).

Part of my exploring, is to address one of life challenges. When your new to an area and your trying to grow your social circle, the lack of local knowledge of where to go and what to do, can make it all seem a bit overwhelming. It seems a shame to end up in average places, when you just know Melbourne is full of hidden gems..... its just a case of uncovering them :-).

Time and effort are required,
but I think its a pretty good mission.
I hope you enjoy coming along on this mission too :-)

Spicy Baked Eggs (I didn't have this YET.. but its a popular choice here.)
